72 Hours in Hong Kong

If you’re looking forward to a Hong Kong family holiday, it’s a perfect place for a short and smart vacay. There’s so much to do, see, visit and eat, that it will be a memorable trip. It will leave you craving to come back many times. And most of all, this trip will forever be a part of you.

So, if you want an itinerary as to how you can spend 72 hours exploring the beautiful Hong Kong city at your own leisurely pace, here it is. In a nutshell, you can visit the Ocean Park and the Disneyland in Hong Kong, go up the Victoria Peak, take the Star Ferry, and go hiking on the Dragon’s Back trail and more.

3 Days or more…Plan your Hong Kong family holiday now!

Day 1

9:00am: Breakfast at The Brunch Club, Central

If you are looking for a good old, classic and healthy breakfast, then The Brunch Club it is. The interiors are very cozy and the food is also great.

10:30am: Go on the Wan Chai Heritage Trail

This is a very famous walking trail in the middle of Wan Chai. It takes about 2 hours and it is divided into 2 parts wherein, you experience Hong Kong culture and architecture for free. The start point is Mallory Street and the endpoint is Wing Fung Street.

2:00pm: Enjoy a meal at 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA

8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA serves great Italian food. And it is said that they serve the most delicious Italian food outside of Italy. This hotel features in the Michelin Food Guide. This three-star rated fine-dining restaurant is situated on Chater Road in Hong Kong Central. Price-wise, it seems to be a little lesser than other Italian restaurants in the area.

3:30pm: Visit the Man Mo Temple

If you want to see a local temple in Hong Kong, then visit the Man Mo Temple. One of the first traditional temples built in the colonial period, it is dedicated to local deities like the Taoist God of literature (Man) and God of War (Mo)- a serene stop during your Hong Kong family holiday.

4:00pm: Take the ‘Ding Ding’ Ride

While here, don’t miss a trip on the double-decker streetcar, the ‘Ding Ding’. It has been around since 1904 and you can take an enjoyable tour of the busy Hong Kong streets.

5:00pm: A Hong Kong family holiday is considered incomplete without having the egg custard tarts at the famous Tai Cheong bakery. You should also try out the very popular, local beverage of Hong Kong, the Milk Tea at Lan Fong Yuen.

6:00pm: Check out Causeway Bay

The Time Square at Causeway Bay is a nice way to enjoy the city at night. It is a very happening place, with great lighting, malls, and loads of shopping to do. Incidentally, the city’s largest library is also in this area.

8:00pm: Enjoy a nice Dinner at Noodle Mi

Enjoy a nice dinner at Noodle Mi, a Vietnamese Noodle Bar in Sheung Wan. Their interesting menu features local delicacies like rice vermicelli specialties, pho, snacks, and Banh Mi, a Vietnamese-type sandwich. A point to note is that their food is MSG and gluten-free.

11:00pm: Party at Lan Kwai Fong

If you like partying, then don’t miss visiting Lan Kwai Fong. If you want to unwind with beers, go to the Hong Kong Brewhouse, if you want to dance or groove to the beats of the DJ Anil Ahuja, then visit FLY, the electronic music bar.

Day 2 of your Hong Kong Family Holiday

9:00am: Complimentary breakfast at the hotel

10:00am: Must-visit The Peak

Definitely make time to visit The Peak, even if you have many things to do during your Hong Kong family holiday. It is the city’s elite center and is located at a height and at a very vantage point. It offers one of the best views of the city. The best way to reach up here is to take the famous tram ride.

12:00pm: Take the Star Ferry

A must-do on a Hong Kong holiday is to ride the Star Ferry across the beautiful Victoria Harbor. The whole experience is unforgettable. The ferry from Hong Kong to Kowloon is operational since 1888.

1:00pm: Shop and lunch at MongKok

If like us you too believe that a Hong Kong family holiday is half-done without shopping, then head to the local Ladies Market, the Argyle Mall, and the Sim City at MongKok. Look for bargains in clothes, electronics and more.


And while here, right at the intersection of MongKok road and the Tung Choi street get some authentic, mouthwatering street food. Foods like Dai Pai Dongs, Siu Mai and curried fish balls are a must-try!

5:30pm: Explore Tsim Sha Tsui

Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade offers one of the best views of hong Kong city and is not to be missed. It is the symbol of Hong Kong and it is in fact, where most people take photographs. While here, shop for designer goods in Canton Road or go shopping on Grandville Road, and also check out Harbor City.

7:00pm: Visit the Temple Street Night Market

Head here to experience, the urban side of Hong Kong,. It is vibrant, lively, and ever-busy. The place is filled with visitors on a Hong Kong family holiday and locals who love bargain shopping for pirated DVDs, replicas of designer bags and clothes, watches and more.

While here try out some great, reasonably priced, street food on Woo Sung Street.

While in Kowloon, dinner can be either authentic Chinese or authentic Indian food at either of these restaurants-

8:30pm: Dinner at the Modern China restaurant, West Kowloon

The restaurant is famous for its interesting Shanghai cuisine. On the menu, you can find traditional momos, noodles, and loads of meats and seafood. Price-wise, it’s a little expensive.


8:30pm: Gaylord Indian Restaurant, Tsim Sha Tsui

How about a surprising Indian tadka to your Hong Kong family holiday? Gaylord is one of the oldest and a well-known Indian restaurant that has built an enviable following over the years. So, if you are missing home, and want to try some authentic Indian food, then head to this restaurant in Kowloon. Here you can find a good mix of North and South Indian- both vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods. The specialties here include – Mutton rogan josh, chicken do-piaza, dal, and paneer mutter.

11:00pm: Sky Bar at the Eyebar

If you want to explore Hong Kong’s nightlife, then don’t miss the Sky Bar at Eyebar. You can relax and unwind, overlooking the city at night on the 31st floor at iSQUARE.

1:00am: Relax at Knutsford Terrace

A perfect finish to the busy 2nd day of this Hong Kong family holiday is partying at Knutsford Terrace. It is a terraced street packed with bars, restaurants, and pubs. And you can easily move between the different venues. The All Night Long music venue here is open till 6:00am where you can enjoy live music, beer and enjoy great views too.

Day 3

9:00am: Complimentary breakfast at the hotel

10:00am to 6:00pm: A must-visit to the famed Ocean Park Hong Kong

If you are on a 3-day holiday in Hong Kong, then you should spend the last day in Hong Kong, visiting the very famous Ocean Park Hong Kong. Basically, this is a wonderland park that is a mix of many. It is a full-fledged amusement park. Also there is a marine park, an animal park and an Oceanarium here. It is situated in the Southern District of Hong Kong in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan in.

Ocean Park has something to engage all age groups. There are many thrilling roller coaster rides, and enjoyable wet rides in the water too. Also, there are many enjoyable must-see shows, some good family attractions and more.

If you want to view the park from a height, then you should take the cable car ride or go up the Ocean Park Tower from where you can see the whole park.

After a nice, pleasurable day here, you will take back loads of photographs and memories back with you!

8:00pm: Dinner at the Michelin star restaurant, Tim Ho Wan – Olympian City

This restaurant is Michelin starred and is affordable too. It is very popular and people wait in queues to get in. And once here, feast on the many delicacies they have on offer.

11:00pm: A drink at the world’s highest bar – Ozone, Ritz Carlton

Here’s a fitting finale to the last day of this incredible Hong Kong family holiday. Enjoy a Kowloon Gin & Tonic in Ozone, the hotel’s bar on the 118th floor. To be sitting at such dizzying heights, enjoying a drink and taking in the sights, is an experience that simply should not be missed.
